On the one-month anniversary of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, thousands of students walked out of classrooms and schools to protest gun violence. As they started the 17-minute walkout — a minute for each person who died in the attack — Hollywood stars voiced their support on Twitter. Grown-ish star Yara Shahidi, backed her cousin’s decision to take part in the walkout today, while Mark Hamill followed the protest from Dublin, Ireland. Some, like Debra Messing, proudlyrallied at a local school walkout in New York. See more of the tweets below.

The young people of this generation give me so much hope. Are u listening @GOP? Time for gun laws to change. And for you 2A-ers, relax, no one is saying you cant own a gun, your right to ‘bear arms shall not be infringed’. Just looking for common sense reform! #NationalWalkoutDay https://t.co/jB7NCb0MJj

So unbelievably proud of these students. So blown away by their unstoppable energy and their devotion to hold our legislators accountable. They are not going away, but those officials who do nothing to reform gun laws, most certainly will be. #walkout #ParklandStrong https://t.co/928ee1lBJC
