Jani Lane, front man for archetypal hair-metal band Warrant, was found dead yesterday in a Los Angeles hotel room. The band has remained active in some form (both with and without Lane) since forming in the early eighties, but had their biggest success in the middle part of that decade, with the hit singles “Heaven,” “Down Boys,” and “Cherry Pie.” No cause of death has been announced for Lane. He was 47 years old. [AP]
