-You better werk (on protecting your son from the evil children’s book trying to destroy your family). It’s been two years since the internet declared the Babadook, star of the 2014 Jennifer Kent horror movie of the same name, an official member of the LGBTQ community. Now, IFC Midnight and Shout Factory are celebrating his status as queer icon/homicidal manifestation of grief by creating a limited-edition Pride Month release of The Babadook, with only 2,500 copies of the rainbow-slipcovered Blu-ray being made available. Of course, if you watch it, a dapper shadow creature in a top hat will infiltrate your mind and soul, but at least you’ll die knowing a portion of your purchase will go to Los Angeles LGBT Center. (But only if you buy the film in June, so get on it.)
To celebrate #PrideMonth, we’ve teamed up with @ShoutFactory for a limited edition of THE BABADOOK.
Even better than this? A portion of all sales in June go to the @LALGBTCenter: https://t.co/EKEfW92wvA
