Lionsgate Acquires the Magic Tree House Film Rights, Will Teach Kids About Reading, History, and Pro
The studio that brought you the sexy, violent Hunger Games films and the sexy, violent Divergent series is now bringing you film adaptations of the children’s-book series for young librarians and DIY living enthusiasts. Lionsgate has bought the film rights to all 54 installments of Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House books, which follow Pennsylvania siblings Jack and Annie on their trips through history and literature and do not involve any elaborate metaphors about high-school cliques (yet). The first film, already in development, will be based on Christmas in Camelot, the 29th Magic Tree House book and the first of a series involving the siblings’ adventures in various myths and fairy tales.
