Castles Nathan Fillion Will Join TVs Most Modern Family in a New Guest Role

After an eight-season run on Castle, Nathan Fillion will be returning to ABC. But this time he won’t be solving any mysteries, and the closest he’ll come to a car chase will probably be watching a minivan speed on the way to school. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that Fillion will appear in at least three episodes of the show. Although most know Fillion for his role as Richard Castle, or even recognize his voice from the Halo video games (and there was that little show Firefly way back when), he will now be joining the Emmy-winning family comedy as a weatherman named “Rainer Shine,” because weathermen don’t have it hard enough already.
